Im Hinblick auf die anzustrebende Lebensweise oder auch vor dem Hintergrund anstehender folgenschwerer Entscheidungen fragt guy sich meist: was once soll ich tun?. Dabei handelt es sich um die eigentliche ethische Grundfrage. In diesem Kontext setzt sich die Ethik auch mit der Rechtfertigung und Begründung von getroffenen Entscheidungen auseinander und kann als Entscheidungshilfe bei Wert- und Normenkonflikten dienen. Schließlich gelangt Ethik im Nachdenken über ethical zur Ausprägung und ist in der Lage, die Entwicklung zu einem moralischen Subjekt zu fördern. Die bisherigen Ausführungen machen mehr als deutlich, dass die Ethik über relativ komplexe Gegenstandsbereiche verfügt, welche nicht ohne Weiteres vollständig zu erfassen und zu durchdringen sind. In der gegenwärtigen Literatur finden sich daher zahlreiche Einführungen in die Ethik, welche sich mit den grundlegenden ethischen Begriffen, Fragestellungen und Argumenten auseinandersetzen. Im Verlaufe der vorliegenden Arbeit sollen die Einführungen in die philosophische Ethik von Fenner (2008), Hepfer (2008) und Pieper (2007) miteinander verglichen werden.
